Frontier Airlines warmly welcomed to Belize

Posted: Monday, December 13, 2021. 1:07 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The busyness of the Philip Goldson International Airport on a Saturday afternoon, with no less than 21 flights coming in and out where, a year ago, there had been none, was briefly interrupted by Garifuna drumming as Belize welcomed another carrier to our friendly skies.

As remarked by the chairman of the Aviation Development Committee Anthony Hunt, “From your sunflowers to our warm sunshine, from your Rocky Mountains to our Maya Mountains, from Space Mountain to our World Heritage Site, the Barrier Reef…welcome to our home, welcome to your home, welcome to Belize.”

He added that the unique partnership between airlines domestic and foreign, the Government, and service associations “is the envy of every single country in our region.”

Alfredo Gonzalez, international and domestic sales manager for Frontier Airlines, noted that this connection from Orlando, Florida, and Denver, Colorado, doesn’t happen by accident, as it opens up all of the United States on a budget for Belizeans and visitors alike.

After the body pains of the COVID pandemic, Frontier is back to providing service “so that people that want to fly, need to fly, can afford to fly,” while also doing their part to preserve the environment by flying on a fleet that uses 43 percent less fuel than other airlines as a result of airplane and space configurations.

Frontier has made its name on “low fares done right,” which means not only lower airfares – US$168 from Orlando to Belize next Saturday – but also options for baggage, seating, refunds, and other hassles larger airlines are clumsier with.

Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler paid tribute to the “resilience” of the private sector and the industry generally after one of its roughest times in history and promised to work “frenetically” at marketing and increasing airlift, stating “failing is not an option in 2022, no matter what COVID throws at us.”

The flights are once a week each, on Saturday, from Denver (Flight F964 arriving at 1:24 Belize time and leaving at 3:55 Belize time) and Orlando (Flight F955 arriving at 2:50 p.m. and leaving at 4:29 p.m. Belize time).
