By Aaron Humes: Over the weekend the Belize arm of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) hosted a gala in honor of the organization’s 75th anniversary.
UNICEF has been a vocal advocate for children and their rights and needs around the world, according to Belize representative Alison Parker: “From a period of armed conflict, natural disasters, and humanitarian crisis, to long term development and enduring legacy with you, the government of Belize and our partners who have been on the ground to provide essential services for children in need.”
Prime Minister John Briceño acknowledged the organization’s work in Belize: “For us, this partnership means breaking down barriers and inequalities that children face. And building the bridges for a better tomorrow, towards Agenda 2030 when every child is healthy, safe, educated and can live up to their truest potential. This is when we have secured the path to a brighter future for us all.”
