“Bogus” bonus?

By Aaron Humes: After a year to forget for most public officers and teachers, Christmas will see their families “stretch the dollar” almost to the point of tearing.

But the Government intends to provide relief to some extent with a $1.5 million allocation from the Supplementary Appropriation presented to the National Assembly last week.

Prime Minister John Briceño told reporters on Monday, “Yeah, we’re working on that, and we wish we can do more but that’s the best we can.”

He added that while it was “nowhere close to enough,” the Government wanted to do its part this festive season.

Public officers and teachers would of course like nothing more than the return of their lost wages and more on top of that in 2022.
