By BBN Staff: A joint police operation carried out on San Pedro by the GI3, Special Patrol Unit, and Special Branch in the wee hours of Wednesday morning led to the recovery of two illegal weapons and a bunch of assorted ammunition, however, the suspect who initially drew police attention escaped.

According to police, the joint patrol conducted foot patrol between 3:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. in the area from mile 6 to 12 of northern San Pedro. Around mile 11, police saw a man in a black shirt and red pants with an object that appeared to be a gun in his hand searching the nearby bush. He reportedly spotted the police patrol and ran. Police set chase but he was not caught.

Police searched the area and a nearby abandoned building which led to the discovery of a Mossberg 12 gauge pump action shotgun with 9 cartridges and a 30 caliber rifle with 2 magazines. Police also rounded up an assortment of ammunition and rounds. The find was labeled found property and police investigation continues.
