By Aaron Humes: Cabinet gave its endorsement to proposed amendments to the Development Finance Cooperation (DFC) Act meant to enhance the efficient and effective delivery of DFC’s financial products and services by DFC to the Belizean citizens.
After alleged mismanagement under the Said Musa administration, the DFC was revived under the Dean Barrow administration and serves as a crucial conduit for finance for the private sector and agricultural sector, as well as for education and other purposes.
The current administration has pumped more capital into DFC and sought lines of credit with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and other lenders to assist the productive sector in its recovery from COVID-19.
