By Aaron Humes: In the span of 24 hours, the City of Belmopan’s Christmas Tree was apparently sabotaged, then restored.
Area representative Oscar Mira cried shame on his Facebook page on the saboteur, whom he said cut the cables that lit up the tree.
As he explained, “We do not need to have a watchman to watch over the tree day and night; we should ALL watch over the tree, as a community because the tree is there for the enjoyment of our children who enjoy the tree, and are the happiest whenever they pass this beautifully bright Christmas tree.”
A saddened Mira reminded that the tree is primarily for the children.
And thankfully, the tree was relit on Friday with assistance from the Belmopan City Council.
Some had complained of the blue and silver color scheme and others about how late it was lit (last Saturday, December 11).
There is no word on whether any complaint has been made to police.
