San Pedro man shot, allegedly by acquaintance

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a reported shooting incident on Friday night that left one man injured.

22-year-old Jose Henriquez of Boca del Rio area, San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, told police he was at home inside his room when he heard someone shout his name.

He opened his window and observed two men outside on separate bicycles and recognized one of them. He immediately heard about 7 loud bangs similar to gunfire and realized that both men were shooting at him. He managed to close the window but was hit to the lower front left leg.

Henriquez was admitted at the San Pedro Polyclinic in a stable condition on Friday night and was scheduled to be transported to Belize City Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital this morning for further medical attention.

Police retrieved several expended shells and the bicycles believed to have been used by the perpetrators. Their investigations continue.
