Guatemalan cattle trader caught smuggling cocaine in southern Belize – accomplice flees the scene

By BBN Staff: Authorities in Southern Belize have busted a Guatemalan national smuggling cocaine under the guise of trading cattle.

Reports are that the trader was found early this morning just after midnight close to the Belize border with Guatemala near Jalacte, Toledo District with the cattle, when officials from the Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA) stopped him to perform a search.

During that search, they found around five parcels of suspected cocaine. Police were immediately contacted.

The man had an accomplice with him who reportedly managed to escape.
