By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing has handed over three houses built under its housing program to new homeowners in the Cayo District.
The homeowners – Karina Roches (Roaring Creek), Marie Vaccaro (Teakettle) and Feliciano Reyes (Valley of Peace) all happen to be constituents of Minister and Cayo South area representative Julius Espat.
Espat made sure to boast, “I made this promise months ago, and some of you didn’t believe me, but when I commit to something, my word is my bond.”
These have been referred to as “starter homes” – constructed with one or two bedrooms that can be expanded at the homeowner’s expense, and cost little to rent per month.
Just in time for Christmas, 17 more homes will be handed over this week.
60 more homes are being constructed in identified areas and a further 25 are scheduled to commence shortly.
