By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Though Jewel Fury won the 2021 National Amateur Women’s League, Roshanny Narvaez of Rumberas won the most coveted award, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
The two teams got four individual awards each out of the ten given out by the NAWL, but the champs are not happy since they figure they deserved better.
Jewel Fury’s Jayda Brown received the Golden Boot for being the tournament’s undisputed top scorer. Brown was also named the Top Forward. Goalkeeper Idania Ramirez, who only allowed three goals, was awarded the Golden Glove while Joseph Waight got the Best Coach award.
Apart from MVP, Rumberas also claimed the Best Defender award through Stephanie Barrientos. Ashley Rodriguez was named the Best Midfielder and Shendra Casimiro got the Best Young Player award.
The Verdes Rebel Girls’ Jessica Quintero was named the Best Manager while the Juventus Sugar Giirls received the Fair Play Team award.
Jewel Fury won the final 4-0 over the Rumberas on Saturday claiming their fourth consecutive national women’s championship.
