By BBN Staff: Tonight 29-year-old Keyron Gibson remains in prison and will now serve out a life sentence imposed upon him late this evening by Justice Herbert Lord in the Supreme Court.
The life sentence comes after his conviction for the 2014 murder of 31-year-old, Tulio Caceres. After considering a mitigation plea and the impact statement by Caceres’s family, Justice Lord sentenced him to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
The sentence took into account the six years Gibson spent on remand, leaving him with just 19 more years to go before he is eligible for parole.
Gibson and Caceras were members of rival gangs, and Caceras happened to pass in front of Majestic Alley, which would have been rival territory to him when he was gunned down.
A police officer conducting foot patrols in the area testified he witnessed the crime unfold and that Gibson rode past him on a bicycle after committing it.
Gibson was convicted on June 29, 2021.
