By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Vaccinations have slowed down so much that just 398 new persons got vaccinated from Monday, December 13, to Monday, December 20.

Last week, the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) COVID-19 Vaccination Report reported that 210,154 persons had been vaccinated by Monday, December 13, while this week’s Monday report says the total number of vaccinated persons is 210,552. Considering that vaccinations are not done on Sundays, that’s an average of 66 new persons vaccinated per day in the whole country. If we go by district, that would be just 11 new persons daily per district.

At least the number of people going for a second vaccination is moving up at a faster pace. The total number of persons who have received two vaccines went up by 1077 over the past week, from 197,739 to 198,816. That’s an average of 180 daily countrywide.

As to persons 12 to 17 years of age, only 152 more were vaccinated over the last week. That’s 25 per day at six vaccinating days a week. The number moved up from 29,340 to 29,492.

The MOHW said 343 persons 18 years and older got vaccinated since the last report on Wednesday, December 15.

So far, the MOHW has not yet disclosed how many people have received a booster.

People have a choice of four vaccines: AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen).

The MOHW is now advising people 18 and over to get boosters.

Vaccinations are available for everyone 12 years and older.

“We also advise that even after getting vaccinated, persons are to continue wearing a face mask properly in public, maintain consistent physical distancing, avoid social gatherings, and wash and sanitize hands often,” said the MOHW. “Please be safe and stay at home unless conducting essential business.”

While a person getting vaccinated can just walk in at any of the vaccination sites countrywide, anyone wanting to register beforehand can do so by clicking here.
