By BBN Staff: A repeat offender for drug trafficking was handed a mandatory fine when he appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this week.
Albert Waller, 42, picked up his fifth charge for drug trafficking and immediately pleaded guilty in court on Tuesday.
The Magistrate imposed the minimum mandatory fine of $10,000 plus a $5.00 cost of court fine of which she ordered him to pay by May 31, 2022, in default, 3 years imprisonment.
On Monday, December 20, 2021, on West Collet Canal around 10:20 a.m., Waller was apprehended by the Intelligence Unit-G13 of the Belize Police Department.
Officers doing mobile patrol in that area said they saw Waller when he was walking across the bridge and heading into West Collect Canal with a black knapsack school bag on his back. Police approached him and informed him that he would be searched. During the search, they found plastic bags containing leaf-like substances suspected to be cannabis.
