By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Vaccinations for this week will come to a stop by midday on Friday. So, if you want to get vaccinated before Christmas, Friday morning is your last chance.

And what’s good is that more than likely you don’t have to join any long line as vaccinations have slowed down considerably over the last few weeks despite the Ministry’s heightened campaign.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness is conducting vaccinations at its health centers countrywide.

In the Belize District, vaccinations will be administered on Friday at the Central Health Region vaccination clinic in Belize City, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The Central Health Region is located behind the old Bliss Nursing Center in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital compound (access between Social Security Board and the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital off Princess Margret Drive or next to Social Security on St Joseph St).

The Matron Roberts Polyclinic and the Port Loyola Health Center in Belize City will also operate for vaccinations from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Vaccinations at the Caye Caulker Health Center will be done at the same time: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday.

Meanwhile, in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, vaccinations at the San Pedro Lions Den will be done from 8:30 m to noon on Friday.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness continues encouraging Belizeans 12 years and up to get vaccinated against COVID-19 at any of its vaccination sites countrywide. The MOHW is also advising those persons who qualify for a booster shot to do so now.

For persons whose first two shots were AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Sinopharm, a booster is recommended three months after the second dose, and for those who were vaccinated with the Janssen vaccines, the booster is recommended two months after the first dose.

For those who have been vaccinated with AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Sinopharm, the recommended booster is a Pfizer vaccine.

Those vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine, the Central Health Region is recommending a booster of the same vaccine.
