By BBN Staff: Liquefied Petroleum Gas prices fall again – 20 cents per gallon, $15 less for 100 pound cylinder on Christmas Eve

With effect from Friday, December 24, 2021, the price per gallon is seeing a 20 cents drop and the price per pound is being reduced by 15 cents. This means that consumers will now pay $123 for a hundred-pound cylinder of LPG or ‘butane’ in towns and cities instead of $138. Elsewhere the price will be $125 per hundred-pound cylinder beginning on Christmas Eve.

Retail sales per pound are now regulated at $1.23 in the municipalities ($5.83 per gallon) and $1.25 in rural areas ($5.93 per gallon).

Import wholesale prices are set now at $4.23 per gallon countrywide, down from $4.43 on December 6.

The recent decrease in the acquisition price of LPG in the US Gulf Coast has resulted in local LPG or ‘butane’ prices decreasing for the third time in the last couple months, providing significant relief to the Belizean consumers. It is required by law, specifically the amended LPG Act that provides for energy security, quality assurance, and transparent prices by means of a legislated pricing methodology, that any such decreases in the acquisition cost has to result in a concurrent decrease in the local regulated LPG price in Belize.
