By BBN Staff: A man brought to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today over a mask-wearing violation, claimed to have trouble remembering his name and date of birth.
While the court book has the accused listed as Antonio Nunez, his vaccination card reads Antonio Jimenez. However, he told the court he could not remember which of the names was actually his. He also said he did not know his date of birth, only that he is 58 years old.
The accused was charged with failure to properly wear a face mask in public and pleaded not guilty. He explained to the court that he was doing a job when he fell to the ground. He claimed that, during the fall, his mask fell off and he put it back on once he was on his feet.
The court granted him self bail in the sum of $800. He is due back in court on February 10, 2022.
