Belize City man murdered in his own home

By Ruben Morales: A 23-year-old Belize City man, Derron Hernandez, was shot dead in his own home on Monday evening. He was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

Police reports say that at about 6:20 pm Hernandez and his brother were at home on Raccoon Street Extension when they heard the front gate being opened. Hernandez reportedly went to his front door to check and as he opened the door a man opened fire on him.

When police visited the KHMH, they found that Hernandez was already pronounced dead. Police then visited the crime scene and found a single expended shell.
