By Rubén Morales Iglesias: COVID-19 vaccinations resumed today, Tuesday, in the Belize District and will continue until midday on Friday. There will be no vaccinations on Saturday because it’s New Year’s Day.

The Central Health Region in the Ministry of Health said its COVID-19 vaccination drive continues this week at the Central Health Region vaccination clinic from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm up to Thursday and from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm (midday) on Friday.

The Central Health Region is located behind the old Bliss Nursing Center in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital compound (access between Social Security Board and the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital off Princess Margaret Drive or next to Social Security on St Joseph St).

The Port Loyola Health Center and the Matron Roberts Polyclinic in Belize City are operating for vaccinations from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm up to Friday.

Vaccinations are being also administered from Tuesday to Thursday at the Ladyville Health Center from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. On Friday, vaccination will end at midday.

At the Caye Caulker Health Center, vaccinations are also administered daily up to Thursday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and on Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday.

Vaccinations in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, are being administered at the San Pedro Lions Den from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm up to Thursday. No vaccination will be carried out on Friday.

There is no mobile clinic to other villages this week.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness continues encouraging Belizeans 12 years and up to get vaccinated against COVID-19 at any of its vaccination sites countrywide. The MOHW is also advising those persons who qualify for a booster shot to do so now.

For persons whose first two shots were AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Sinopharm, a booster is recommended three months after the second dose, and for those who were vaccinated with the Janssen vaccines, the booster is recommended two months after the first dose.

Those who have been vaccinated with AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Sinopharm, the recommended booster is a Pfizer vaccine.

Those vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine, the Central Health Region is recommending a booster with the same vaccine.
