Belize City, North and West take brunt of new COVID wave

By Aaron Humes: Today’s wave of new COVID-19 cases have been pinpointed mostly in the center, north and west of the country.

Of today’s 331 new cases, 122 were added in Belize City, 17 in Caye Caulker and 14 in Ladyville, while 28 were reported in San Pedro Town. The Belize District as a whole reported 193 new cases.

In Corozal and Orange Walk there were 53 new cases. Orange Walk Town added 25, Corozal Town seven, Trial Farm five, San Jose four, Yo Creek two and single cases in Chunox, Cristo Rey, Libertad, Paraiso, San Andres, Santa Rita Layout and Sarteneja, Corozal and Chan Pine Ridge, San Antonio (Rio Hondo), and San Felipe, Orange Walk District.

Cayo District added 64 new cases, 22 of which were in Belmopan, 18 in the Twin Towns; and six in Benque Viejo.

Down south, there were 23 new cases in the Stann Creek and Toledo Districts. Dangriga Town and Placencia each reported six new cases, Hopkins four and Punta Gorda Town three.
