By Aaron Humes: Video-on-demand film service BLK PRIME has announced a partnership with the Office of the Belize Film Commissioner, Nigel Miguel, and the separate corporate partner #filmbelize.
BLK PRIME maintains a subscription and pay-per-view service that focuses on diverse original media programming and provides global streaming video on demand all around the world. Its vice president of business affairs Lauren Pearson promises to “assist filmmakers to gain a global reach with a new audience.”
Commissioner Miguel for his part said he hoped to “bring significant exposure to local filmmakers who typically do not have as many avenues through which to showcase their talent and bring their creative works to the attention of audiences beyond their borders,” adding that he was ecstatic to see this project become reality.
BLK PRIME can be found on blkprime.com and is available on Roku and Apple TV.
Miguel’s office is government-appointed and tasked with building Belizean filmmaking capacity, engaging with the wider industry in the United States and marketing incentives to film in Belize, business opportunities to industry professionals, and building the talent pool of skilled creators and contributors via formal education, training programs, internships, and exchange programs. Its corporate partner #filmbelize is continually engaged in prospecting, qualifying, and securing funding sources to help OBFC fulfill its mission.
