BREAKING: Compromise may be reached in sugar impasse

By Aaron Humes: At this hour the blockade at the entrance of the Tower Hill Factory is apparently being eased, according to live reports on the ground.

The farmers have apparently agreed to clear the entrance for two hours pending a further meeting of the Belize Sugar Cane Farmers Association at 3 this afternoon, but no cane will be delivered in that time.

The request was made by the Prime Minister to facilitate the apparent signing of an interim agreement with BSI/ASR including an extension to negotiation to allow farmers to have enough time to deliver their cane.
