Simone Biles: ‘When she gets married, it’s going to be in Belize’

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As far as we know, Simone Biles has not said anything about getting married, but according to Essentially Sports when the most well-known gymnast in the world decides to tie the knot, it’s going to be in Belize.

“Simone said, when she gets married, it’s going to be in Belize,” said Simone Biles’ mother Nellie Biles, according to Essentially Sports.

Twenty-five-year-old Biles has been dating NFL player Jonathan Owens of the Houston Texans and she occasionally posts pictures of Owens and herself. In her last post on Facebook, she simply said “Night out” on November 13. Before that, it was “My whole heart” on September 6.

Apart from being a US citizen, Biles also holds Belizean citizenship and regularly visits Belize. Her most recent visit was for the US holiday of Thanksgiving in November. Both have reportedly been dating since 2020.

Nellie Biles, who has been responsible for Simone staying close to her roots, is proud of Simone’s connections with Belize.

“We are the best-kept secret. For Simone to shine a light on Belize, I think it’s meaningful because it’s such a huge part of our family history and the foundation of who we are, and we are excited that this is being used as a platform to showcase other talent in Belize,” said Nellie Biles to Essentially Sports.

Biles was recently named Athlete of The Year by Time magazine.
