Total Time Belize hosts New Year’s Day 10K runners’ appreciation race

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Total Time Belize is hosting a New Year’s Day 10K runners’ appreciation race in Burrell Boom on Saturday.

Ricardo Salazar of Total Time Belize said registration is free since he is organizing the race in appreciation of the support runners have given him throughout the year.

Salazar was the first to organize races once the government lifted restrictions earlier in the year.

Though the main event is a 10-kilometer (6.2 mile) race, Total Time is also having a 5K for children 10 years and younger.

The race is open to both men and women in three categories: 24 and under, 25 – 39, and 40+.

The race will start and finish at St Therese Primary School in Burrell Boom. It will run along the river toward the bridge, make a right turn on the Boom/Hattieville Road, another right turn into the village’s second entrance by Johnny Pond, keep on Y Ave to the end by Burrell Boom Methodist/Cell phone tower, and a final right turn to the finish line.

The race starts at 6:00 am.

Registration is open until 5:00 pm on Thursday, December 30.
