Football Federation President gives year in review

Posted: Sunday, January 2, 2022. 5:30 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) President Sergio Chuc has issued a 10-minute address reviewing the year that was in his organization and sport.

According to Chuc, his key takeaway from the year is the resilience of the game and its players – the young men and women who braved COVID-19 and other obstacles to play for their country at club and country level.

Chuc gave thanks to the Ministries of Health and Sports for facilitating training in a bubble for international games and to fans for keeping engaged through a Federation television production on legends of the game.

Training and planning continued, as well as completing the upgrade of Federation headquarters and the adjacent stadium.

Chuc said the game has “weathered the storm” of one of its toughest years to return football competition at the Top League, Women’s League and District Associations from Corozal to Cayo, with others expected in early 2022.

Despite COVID’s ravages, Chuc urged that we work and share together and connect with extended families in and out of football.
