Roxana Lemus wins Total Time Belize’s New Year’s Day 10K runners’ appreciation race

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Westrac’s Roxana Lemus won the Total Time Belize’s New Year’s Day 10K runners’ appreciation race in Burrell Boom on Saturday morning.

Lemus was timed at 57 minutes and 33.3 seconds. She captured both the Open and the 25-39 age category.

Mirtha Welch of the Roaring Creek Vet Clinic was second 4.6 seconds behind Lemus in 57:37.9. She was also second in the 25-39 category.

Heart & Soles Lliani Ordonez was third overall and first in the 40+ category clocking 58.50.0.

Viviana Young, also running for Heart & Sole was fourth and 3rd in the 25-39 in 1 hour, seven minutes, and 49.4 seconds.

Fifth place was claimed by Dorsha Sabido of Belize City. Sabido was second in the 40+ category clocking 1:09:17.1.

The next five were Team Burns’ Sherlene Burns (1:12:16.7), Heart & Sole’s Lilian Alamina (1:16:42.6), Heart & Sole’s Sandy Perez (1:17:47.9), Khadija Usher (1:19:33.7), and Heart & Sole’s Yemeri Reyes (1:23:59.3).

Alamina was 3rd in the 40+ category.

There was no runner in the 24 and Under category in the women’s race.
