Cities and towns emerging once again as epicenter of new COVID wave

By Aaron Humes: Urban areas across the country in particular are seeing new highs in COVID-19 cases based on the weekend data.

Belize City added 199 new cases all by itself, with another 29 in Ladyville, 12 in Caye Caulker and 10 in Sandhill. San Pedro Town saw 49 new cases added.

In the North, there were 87 new cases added, 45 of which came from Orange Walk Town and 13 from Corozal Town.

In the West, there were 110 cases over three days, with 31 each in Belmopan and San Ignacio, 13 in Benque Viejo Town and 10 in Santa Elena Town.

49 new cases were reported in the Stann Creek District, including 19 in Dangriga, and 27 in the Toledo District including 15 in Punta Gorda Town.

Belizeans are reminded to limit their movements and keep themselves protected by washing hands, wearing masks and keeping up to six feet of social distance.
