Cold Front to cross over northern Belize tonight

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: “A cold front is approaching the country and will bring some changes to our weather,” said the National Meteorological Service of Belize (NMSB) in its 12:00 p.m. (midday) report.

The NMSB said the cold front was extending from southern Florida, southwest to Cancun in Mexico.

“The cold front is expected to be over northern Belize later tonight and then by Tuesday it will stall from Cuba to the adjacent waters of Belize then gradually dissipate out,” said the NMSB.

Temperatures tonight will drop to 70 °F on the coast, 66 °F inland, and 63 °F in the mountains.

The NMSB said that the moisture will linger but will gradually decrease.

As the cold front approaches, a few showers or periods of rain will affect most areas this afternoon, said the Weather Bureau as the NMSB is known locally. The rain will then move along the coast and offshore tomorrow.

“With the strong high pressure behind the front, winds will backup to northwest by tonight and tomorrow morning and cooler temperatures will prevail,” said the report.
