By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Fred Usher Jr is all set to defend his title in the 2nd Annual George Price Day 15K Classic, which has been scheduled for January 15 in Belize City.

In effect, the race, organized by the Freetown Reserves Promotions, starts outside Belize City at Mile 8 on the George Price Highway and finishes at the Freetown Reserve on Freetown Road across from Atlantic Bank. As the runners approach the city entrance, they will take a left turn on to Lake Independence Boulevard, over the bridge, and on to Chetumal Street. The runners will then make a right turn onto the Philip Goldson Highway and finish on Freetown Road.

The Freetown Reserves Promotion is a non-profit organization whose focus is youth, sports, and education. The organizers say they are doing the race to “encourage healthy living through participation”.

In the first edition, the race started near mile 10 on the Philip Goldson highway and came straight into Belize City.

The race will feature five categories: Elites, Juniors, Masters, Master Senior, and Women.’

Registration is $25 at Hair Architect Barber Shop on Freetown Road.
