Mother gives birth to twins minutes apart but in two different years

By Benjamin Flowers: People Magazine reports that a set of twins born in the United States born minutes apart were born in two different years.

California residents Fatima Madrigal and Robert Trujillo welcomed the first of their twins, Alfredo, at 11:45 p.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021. Alfredo’s sister Aylin was born at the stroke of midnight some 15 minute later, making her official birthday January 1, 2022.

Alfredo was born weighing in at 6 lbs., 1 oz, while Aylin arrived at 5 lbs., 14 oz.

“It’s crazy to me that they are twins and have different birthdays,” Madrigal said. “I was surprised and happy that she arrived at midnight.”

Dr. Ana Abril Arias who delivered the twins also spoke on the situation, saying it was one of the most memorable deliveries of her career.
