New Year, new worries as COVID cases soar

By Aaron Humes: The New Year brought a heavy surge of COVID-19 cases according to data released this evening by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

617 new cases were reported on January 1, 2 and today, against 70 new recoveries.

The number of active cases now stands at 2,140, with 597 samples under investigation. More than 2,500 persons were tested over the period, with a positivity rate of nearly a quarter (24.7 percent).

Three new deaths were also reported, the first for this month and year.
