No motive or suspects determined in New Year’s Eve murder

By Aaron Humes: The murder of Akeem Welch, 33, on New Year’s Eve night remains unsolved.

Welch was on a motorcycle on Waight Street leaving a night of socializing when someone shot him.

The incident reportedly took place not far from a police checkpoint but the cops have little to go on at this time.

No motive has been ascertained and no suspect has been identified.

Police say their investigations continue.
