New COVID cases popping up in Belize, Cayo, Stann Creek, and Orange Walk Districts

By Aaron Humes: Belize City reported 171 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, part of 254 total cases across the mainland Belize District.

Other hotspots in the District include San Pedro Town with 29 new cases, Ladyville with 23, and Caye Caulker with 15.

The Cayo District added 111 new cases including 34 in Belmopan, 23 in the Twin Towns, and seven in Benque Viejo.

The northern districts combined for 105 new cases including 51 in Orange Walk Town and 20 in Corozal Town.

Down south, there were 93 new cases in the Stann Creek District, including 32 in Dangriga, 22 in Placencia and 19 in Hopkins, and 18 in the Toledo District including nine in Punta Gorda Town.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness continues to ascertain whether the new cases are of the Omicron variant, which is reported to spread fast but has comparatively less worse symptoms than Delta or Alpha variant.
