46.5 % of Belizeans are now fully vaccinated; 49 % have at least one COVID-19 vaccine

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The latest vaccination numbers from the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ (MOHW) COVID-19 Vaccination Daily Report for January 5, says that 200,254 are fully vaccinated. That represents 46.5 % of Belize’s population of 430,191 as per the Statistical Institute of Belize’s 2021 mid-year estimation.

The number of persons who have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine now stands at 211,194. That’s 49.09 % of our total population.

According to the MOHW, 29,716 persons in the 12-17-year-olds bracket have been vaccinated. That number represents 6.9 % of the country’s population.

In the 18-Years-and-Older category, 278 persons got vaccinated from January 4 to January 5.

No figures are forthcoming yet from the MOHW regarding the total number of people who have received a booster.

Meanwhile, the MOHW keeps encouraging everyone to get vaccinated particularly now that schools are reopening. The MOHW is also advising Belizeans to get booster shots.
