Belize City woman fined for 26.4 grams of marijuana

By BBN Staff: A Belize City woman, Tamara Moody, 25, was fined $205 in Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled drug.

Moody, a mother of three, appeared unrepresented in court before Magistrate Khiana Gordon and wasted no time in pleading guilty.

Gordon took into consideration that Moody was a first-time offender who did not waste the court’s time and imposed a non-custodial sentence and fine of $200 plus $5 cost of court which must be paid by February 28 or face one month in prison in default of payment.

Moody was arrested at her Barrack Road home after GI3 officers conducted a raid at her residence and found 25 small ziplock bags of weed weighing up to 26.4 grams.
