By BBN Staff: Eric Jones, 42, of a Tigris Street address has been remanded to prison after failing to meet bail on a charge of aggravated assault for allegedly pulling a knife on his girlfriend.
Jones appeared in Magistrate’s Court unrepresented on Tuesday before Magistrate Mannon Dennison to answer to one count of aggravated assault upon his girlfriend Marilyn Vasquez, 46.
Vasquez reported to police that she was at work on December 28, 2021, when she heard banging on the door and opened it to meet Jones.
Jones then reportedly sat on a sofa, took a remote, and turned the volume of the television up to maximum. When she told him to lower the volume, Jones allegedly got up walked into the kitchen, and grabbed a knife before grabbing her by the throat and placing the knife at her neck while she sat around a table.
A passing handyman heard her cries for help and rushed in, causing Jones to flee.
Jones plead not guilty in court and was granted bail of $1,500, which he was unable to meet hence he was remanded to prison on Wednesday.
