By BBN Staff: Earlier tonight Breaking Belize News (BBN) broke the story that there was a fatal shooting at the corner of Faber’s Road and Arlington Drive in Belize City.

Police have confirmed that the man who was shot and killed is 24-year-old Daniel Lopez, a stevedore of Antelope Street Extension in Belize City.

According to Police, in responding to a shooting report, they visited an open lot on Fabers Road Extension where they observed the motionless body of Daniel Lopez with gunshot wounds to the body.

Initial investigation reveals that just after 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2022, Daniel Lopez was walking on Fabers Road Extension when he was suddenly approached by two men who came out of a SUV and fired several shots at Lopez. The crime scene was processed and several expended shells were retrieved.

The body of Daniel Lopez was then transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) where he was pronounced dead.

Lopez is the first confirmed murder in the Old Capital since the new year began.

On November 8, 2019 there was also an attempt on Lopez’s life when he and Lemar Lamb were fired upon by two male persons while they were standing in front of #168 Neal’s Pen Road. Both Daniel Lopez and Lemar Lamb were injured in that shooting.
