By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams opens four-day ‘Adjudicator Training Course’ at the National Police Training Academy in Belmopan.

The Commissioner of Police Chester Williams opened a four-day ‘Adjudicator Training Course’ at the National Police Training Academy (NPTA) in Belmopan on Monday.

Twenty-four senior police officers from across the country are participating in the adjudicators’ training course, said a statement by the Belize Police Department’s Public Relations Office.

The statement said Commissioner Williams reminded the 24 participants what the roles and responsibilities of an adjudicator are.

“A police adjudicator is someone who presides, judges, and arbitrates during a formal dispute or police internal matters,” said the statement.

It added that a police adjudicator has numerous purposes, including preliminary legal judgments, to determine applicants’ eligibility.

This four-day training course is being facilitated by trained senior police attorneys from the Belize Police Department’s Legal Unit. They are assisted by personnel of the Police Training Academy.
