Belize will play Guatemala, Nicaragua in international football triangular in Nicaragua in January/February

The Belize Men’s National Football Team (BMNT) will be playing against Guatemala and Nicaragua in an international triangular tournament in Managua, Nicaragua, at the end of the month.

The Football Federation of Belize said the BMNT will match against Guatemala at 8:00 pm on Saturday, January 29.

Then Belize will play against Nicaragua on Tuesday, February 1.

The tournament will be played at the Estadio Nacional de Fútbol in Managua, Nicaragua.

Earlier this week, the FFB said Belize would be playing two friendlies against Nicaragua on January 26 and 29 but the triangular is replacing those two games.

The FFB said the BMNT will travel on Monday, January 24 and return on Sunday, January 30.

According to the Football Federation of Belize (FFB), it is activating the BMNT to start training for the CONCACAF Nations League which will be played in June.

The Belize National Team will be coached by David Pérez Asensio who has called 23 players to report to training. Pérez, who is from Spain, has been coaching Verdes over the last year.

The players called are:

Goalkeepers: Woodrow West and Kenroy Tillett from Verdes and Isaac Castillo from Garden City.

Defenders: Evral Trapp, Allence Ayala and Norman Anderson from Verdes, Collin Westby from Altitude, Deshawon Nembhard from Stumptown (USA), Donnell Arzu from Wagiya, and Jordan Casanova from Garden City.

Midfielders: Jordy Polanco, Darrel Myvett and Eldon Reneau from Verdes, Denmark Casey from Garden City, Warren Moss from Wagiya, Angello Capello from Sheffield United (England), Nana Yaw Mensah from NY Greek American (USA), and Rene Leslie from Altitude.

Forwards: Deon McCaulay, Georgia Revolution (USA), Krisean Lopez and Jesse August from Verdes, Michael Salazar from Memphis 901 (USA), and Carlos Bernardez from Real España (Honduras).
