Police say revenge was motive in murder of Daniel Lopez

Posted: Thursday, January 13, 2022. 2:10 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: A Police investigation has determined that revenge and retaliation was the likely motive in the murder of Daniel Lopez on Sunday night.

Lopez was accosted by two armed men in an SUV at the corner of Fabers Road and Arlington Drive and shot several times, dying in hospital.

Police revealed on Monday that he had been among several persons detained in connection with the shooting of Andrew Staine on North Creek the night before, but was released. His attackers targeted him within minutes to hours.

According to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, “…it goes back to the whole issue of having these gang members who believe that a person or certain person may have done something to them and when the police investigate, they stay mute to the police and as soon as they have the chance to take matters into their own hands, they just avenged whatever was done to them. So, it’s more like a revenge-type shooting in respect to the one with Mr. Lopez.”

Investigations continue as several persons were reportedly detained as of Monday.
