Son officially charged for murder of his father

By BBN Staff: Following the chopping death of 52-year-old Salvador Amaya Rivas, police have officially charged his eldest son for the incident.

Police say that on Wednesday, 23-year-old Olvin Rivas was officially charged with murder.

Reports are that Rivas was chopped to death by his son on Tuesday, January 11 in San Roman Village, Stann Creek District.

Reports also suggest that the father Rivas was an abusive man and that his son took the decision to chop him in defense of his little brother who was allegedly being physically abused.

The family told the media earlier this week that they had moved to San Roman from George Town in an attempt to get away from Rivas, only to have him show up at their new house and cause commotion, which came to a violent end.
