Three adults and a minor taken to court for drug trafficking

By BBN Staff: Three adults and a 14-year-old minor are out on bail after being charged for drug trafficking with respect to 870 grams of marijuana found at a Belize City house during a police raid.

Tameka Wade, 29; Gyang Staine, 30; PJ Anthony Staine, 19, and the minor appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where Wade tried to plead guilty to the lesser charge of simple possession, while the others pleaded not guilty to possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply.

The prosecution refused to accept Wade’s plea, noting that the amount of drugs found was 12 times over what was acceptable for a plea of simple possession.

The group was offered bail in the sum of $2,000 each plus one surety each of the same, which they were able to meet.

They are due back in court on March 17.
