By BBN Staff: The Belize Police Department believes it has recovered the weapon used to murder 25-year-old Antelope Street Extension Resident Dorian Tzac last night.
Head of Communications for the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood, said today that the shooter entered Tzac’s home around 8:20 p.m. and fired several shots, hitting Tzac and a 14-year-old male minor who police believe was visiting him at the time.
“As the shots were being fired Police who were conducting patrols on Iguana Street Extension where they heard the shots and headed towards Antelope Street Extension, and that is when they saw a male person running with a firearm in his hand he threw in some nearby bushes. Police recovered a 9mm pistol and detained a 20-year old male of a Ladyville address,” Yearwood explained.
Currently, that person has still not been formally charged, but Yearwood said that charges are forthcoming in the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile, the minor is still listed in critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Police say the incident was an intended hit, as nothing was stolen from Tzac’s home.
Investigations into the murder continue.
