By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After a break in 2021, the Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge should be staged this year once again.
Former Minister of Sports Kevin Bernard said on Love FM that he had authorized the return of the canoe race from San Ignacio to Belize City, which is run every year on the weekend of March 9, Belize Benefactors Day, previously Baron Bliss Day.
The race was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The year before in 2020, the race had just been staged when the country went into lockdown in late March.
