Coast Guard officer ambushed and stabbed at his home

By BBN Staff: Belize Coast Guard Officer, 25-year-old Kyle Humes was ambushed and stabbed when he arrived at his Belize City home early this morning.

Humes told police he arrived home around 12:55 a.m. and when he exited his vehicle two men dressed in dark clothing, both armed with knives, showed up and attacked him.

During the engagement, he received cuts to the upper right arm and two stab wounds to the left palm.

Humes went to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment and is listed as being in stable condition.

Police are investigating.
