By Aaron Humes: Performer Marlyn Vansen has announced she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS).
Vansen is asking for support to obtain the medication she needs to control the disease, which is not curable.
The mother of one says she was diagnosed on January 8. MS is an auto-immune disease that attacks nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord. It causes seizures and convulsions, extreme fatigue, loss of limb movement, and blurry vision among others.
Vansen explains: “The problem I am facing is that the medication I need is not currently available in Belize and to make matters [worse], it is really expensive. For every day that I don’t take the medication, I’m afraid my situation is just getting [worse].”
She adds that with the support of family, God, and others, she will continue to fight the disease for the remainder of her life, and hopefully come out on top.
Vansen turned down a record deal with Universal Music arranged by Moses “Shyne” Barrow last year.
Those who wish to contribute may do so at Heritage Bank in Vansen’s name, account number 1213301.
You may contact the family at these numbers: Vansen’s husband Ashton Wagner at 614-4232; her brother David at 614-5123; or her mother Marcella at 614-3723.
We here at Breaking Belize News (BBN) send our best wishes to Vansen in her unexpected fight.
