Was stabbed Coast Guard officer personally targeted?

By Aaron Humes: Police are awaiting a chance to speak to stabbing victim Kyle Humes, 25, a Coast Guard officer hospitalized after a run-in with two assailants over the weekend.

Humes told police that he was about to enter his home when two armed men carrying knives set on him as he was exiting his vehicle. He was stabbed to the hand, neck, and face.

Police Department Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood said that police have not established a motive but agreed that the attack looked “direct and personal,” and so only Humes can tell exactly what motivated the attackers.

Investigations continue.
