The Belize Men’s National Football Team (BMNT) is already in training at the FFB Headquarters in Belmopan in preparation for an international triangular tournament next week in Nicaragua.

Belize will face the national teams of Guatemala and Nicaragua in the friendly triangular to be played at the Estadio Nacional de Fútbol in Managua at the end of the month.

Every day the BMNT will have two practical and one theory sessions under the guidance of new head coach David Pérez Asensio. Pérez, who is from Spain, has been coaching Verdes over the last year.

The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) said the BMNT will match against Guatemala at 8:00 pm on Saturday, January 29 and against Nicaragua on Tuesday, February 1 at 7:00 pm.

Nicaragua will open the triangular against Guatemala at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 26, the same day the BMNT travels.

According to the Football Federation of Belize (FFB), it is activating the BMNT to start training for the CONCACAF Nations League which will be played in June.

The Belize National Team is now being coached by David Pérez Asensio who has called 23 players to report to training. Pérez, who is from Spain, has been coaching Verdes over the last year.

The 18 players in camp today are:

Goalkeepers: Woodrow West and Kenroy Tillett from Verdes and Isaac Castillo from Garden City.

Defenders: Evral Trapp and Allence Ayala from Verdes, Collin Westby from Altitude, Deshawon Nembhard from Stumptown (USA), Donnell Arzu from Wagiya, and Ian Gaynair from Garden City.

Midfielders: Jordy Polanco, Darrel Myvett and Eldon Reneau from Verdes, Denmark Casey from Garden City, Warren Moss from Wagiya, and Rene Leslie and Luis Torres from Altitude.

In the midfield, Torres was called after Angello Capello from Sheffield United (England) couldn’t make the trip.

Midfelder Nana Yaw Mensah from NY Greek American (USA) and forwards Deon McCaulay, Georgia Revolution (USA), Michael Salazar from Memphis 901 (USA), and Carlos Bernardez from Real España (Honduras) are expected here by the 24th.
