Inspiration Center gets new leadership

By Benjamin Flowers: The Inspiration Center, the institution that delivers much needed therapy and other specialized care to children with disabilities, announced today that it has a new Chair and Vice-Chair for its Board of Directors (BOD).

The Center released a statement today announcing the appointment of Carla Maheia Hart as Chairperson and Martin Krediet as Vice-Chair, both of whom previously served as members of the board. Hart served as the former Vice-Chair, while Krediet served as the Treasurer.

Following her appointment Maheia Hart said that she was humbled to take on the role, noting that she does so at a crucial time for the center.

“…the needs of our existing clients are changing rapidly, and there is an increasing demand for the services provided. As we venture into a new year, we are seeking to adjust in thoughtful and innovative ways which will benefit those we serve for years to come,” Maheia Hart said.

Krediet, following his appointment, noted that he trusts Maheia Hart’s experience and leadership capabilities, and went on to say that he looks forward to working with her and the other board members to improve the lives of the Center’s clients.

Other members of the board include Sharon Young, Karen Bevans, Tanya McNab-Fields, Walter Davis, and Estevan Perera. Each board member will play a vital role in advancing governance and devising future programs and initiatives for the Center.

Maheia Hart succeeds founder, Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow, who served as Chairperson since the Center’s Opening in 2014.

Speaking on Maheia Hart’s appointment, Simplis Barrow said, “I warmly welcome Mrs. Maheia Hart and Mr. Kredit to their new roles and look forward to working closely with both to continue assisting our children with disabilities and ensuring the sustainability of the Center.”
