By Aaron Humes: The newest appointees of the Supreme Court of Belize, each for a year in the first instance, were sworn in this morning by Acting Chief Justice Michelle Arana.
The quartet is Canadian nationals Patricia Farnese, Suzan Lamb, and Genevieve Chabot along with Jamaican national, Ricardo Sandcroft.
Each brings differing levels of qualification and experience around the world, from Cambodia and India to Canada, the Eastern Caribbean, and the British Virgin Islands.
It is our understanding that Justice Farnese and Justice Chabot will be assigned to the Civil Division while Justice Lamb and Justice Sandcroft have been assigned to the Criminal Division.
With the additions, Belize’s Court is back to its full complement with sitting justices including Acting C.J. Arana, Justices Lisa Shoman and Sonya Young in the Civil Division and Justices Antoinette Moore, Herbert Lord, and Francis Cumberbatch in the Criminal Division.
