By Benjamin Flowers: While the national vaccination campaign continues alongside daily reported cases of COVID-19, the public can rest easier knowing that the majority of the country’s health care workers have some level of protection from the virus through vaccination, according to Minister of Health and Wellness Kevin Bernard.

Bernard shared statistics with the media this afternoon, showing that the lowest percentage of vaccinated healthcare staff is 86 percent, which is in Belmopan.

In the Belize District, 95 percent of all health workers are vaccinated, while Orange Walk and Toledo are tied at 98 percent.

Meanwhile, it is confirmed that 99 percent of health workers in San Ignacio are vaccinated and 100 percent of all health workers in Independence.

Data on vaccinated health workers in Dangriga is still pending.

The Ministry’s data also shows that over 212,000 people are now vaccinated against COVID-19. (See full story here)
